Mama Son Trip to CA

Well, back to real life - "for real" as Connor would say. It's been a struggle to get back in the swing of things after having such a wonderful time with our friends. Thank you to the Talleys for hosting us and thanks to Preston and Quinn for "taking one for the team" and staying back in SLC while we trotted off to California for sun, sand, surf and fun. And, thanks to Connor for traveling with me. It's pretty amazing to take a trip with your young child. There is so much more conversation and attention you can pay to each other when it's just the two of you. I should also say, a lot of questions - buckets full that you can barely answer before they have fired another one your way.
Love you baby and thanks again for traveling with your dear old mama. I agree with you when you said, "This is the most fun ever...in my whole life."
More pictures of our trip are at the link below.

Baby Girl is on the move!

While I was out of town, Preston got serious with Quinn's training. She is now crawling! It's a major developmental step, but we are sort of wishing we could go back to the sitting stage. She is into EVERYTHING - opening every drawer, pulling things out of electrical outlets, dumping over the trash and yelling when she gets into a corner and can't get out. So, if there is a moment when you are wondering what we are doing, I'll tell you right now...we are chasing Quinn and trying to keep her out of harms way. And believe me, it ain't easy. Here's a picture of her very pleased with herself for opening up the bottom drawer and rifling through it. Life just got very interesting at the Barton Casa!

Legoland or BUST!

Tomorrow Connor and I are headed to L.A. to visit our friends, The Talleys. You've seen Max Talley on the blog before. He is Connor's best buddy. Carey got transferred to the Chivas in May and the rest of the gang moved out there in July. So, Connor and I decided to take a quick trip out to visit. We can't wait to see our dear friends - pictures galore will be posted after the trip!

Marine Biology

Connor: Hey Dada, did you know that sharks eat scooby divers? (Pictures for clarification.)
Preston: No, most sharks leave them alone, they are actually afraid of SCUBA divers.
Connor: Yeah, little sharks (picture Connor holding his thumb and forefinger close together) just bite the scooby diver, but nothing comes off.
Silent pause.
Preston: So bud, you ready to get out of the tub?

ATTENTION SCOOBY DIVERS: Do not fear the little sharks. When they bite you, you will not lose an appendage. According to Connor George Barton, Utah

Our Trip to Breckenridge

For our long 4th of July weekend we got the kids in the car and drove to Breckenridge. It was an amazing trip. Thanks to Jon and Nicole for hosting us at their beautiful mountain home. During the trip Connor's favorite thing was to go on a 4-wheeler ride with Preston on some mountain trails. He also got to feed some chipmunks, jump on a trampoline, watch a parade and play with some really cool kids that were also staying at the house. In his words, "It was totally more awesomer." Quinn had her first ride in the backpack on a quick hike. She loved it, so we are planning to head up for a hike this weekend. Now, we are all back at the grind - school and work. Here are some pics from our trip. More to come...

Quinn's 80's hair

Honestly, I have no idea where she gets those dirty looks. Must be from the Barton side.
