My Favorite Superhero Turns 5

My crazy-cat, Connor turns 5 tomorrow. Well, technically he'll still be 1 since he was a Leap Year baby. But, we celebrate on the 28th when it isn't a Leap Year.
Today he's walking around the sun (Montessori tradition) and we're taking cupcakes to school. Tomorrow we're hosting a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle/Star Wars/Superhero swimming party for he and 20 of his friends. AND, my parents are in town to help celebrate. All of this adds up to a very excited 5 year old.
Wow! I can't believe my baby is turning 5. In his words, "When I turn 5 I get to watch the REAL Indiana Jones." Apparently that's a big deal in the 4-5 year old circles.
It seems like it was merely days ago that he was 2 and I'd ask, "What are we?" To which he would respond, "Two cool cats!"
It's amazing to me the child that he has become. He is interesting, smart, funny and snugly. He loves life and activity - riding his bike, skiing, running, jumping and chasing your sister. He is my sensitive child, a bit shy, a bit reserved and always thinking. I adore the person that he is and love discovering the world with him.
All our love to you, Cool Cat Connor and Happy Birthday!

Sponge Quinn Stink Pants

So, Preston has taken to calling our sweet daughter Sponge Quinn Stink Pants. OK, so it does look like she's going to need some serious orthodontia to fix those HUGE front teeth and occasionally she does have some seriously stinky pants, but still.
I do have to say though, I laugh almost every single time he says it. Usually because I then look over at her and she's doing her goofy grin sticking out those big two front teeth at me.
I guess we'll start saving for braces in addition to therapy. Hopefully our kids will get some serious scholarships.

Happy Kids

There is nothing better than smiley, happy kids. Well, except for sleeping quiet children while mama enjoys a nice big glass of red wine and some dark chocolate.

Valentine's Day Cake - not quite great

Connor was very excited to make a Valentine's cake. He helped me pour in the ingredients and mix it all up. He even tried to help spread the frosting and finished by topping it with sprinkles. But, the most excitement came BEFORE the first bite. After which he commented, "This isn't as good as the cake at George's birthday party." Well, I tried damn it.

Loving yogurt!

These days Quinn is all about using utensils when she eats - oh, and no kid sized utensils. She wants to use exactly what we are using. Needless to say it's very rarely mess-free, but you have to learn somehow...right?
