Coming out of the (costume) closet

Connor was playing in the costume closet on Saturday and was very proud of his creation. In his eyes, you just can't have on enough superhero gear!

just...too...tired

Sometimes one is too tired to make it through lunch, even when it's peaches and chicken nuggets.

Barack Obama - Member #5 of the TMNT!

Yesterday at Connor's school the coloring project was Barack Obama. A picture of our President was present for reference. Connor, as usual put his own spin on the project. He created Barack Obama, newest member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Right about now our country could use a little superhero power.

Out with the old...

I can't believe how grown up Connor looks, especially after a new haircut. So handsome.

1/20/09

I have waited 8 years for this day. Oh, and I'm not a patient person. So, you can only imagine how happy I am that it has finally come.

Happy Friday!

I am soooooo glad that it is Friday. It is taking me a long time to get over my "holiday hangover".
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Connor is an amazing big brother. He is constantly giving Quinn love, helping her get around the house and keeping her safe when she tries to get into his little toys. So far, this love isn't exactly reciprocated by Quinn. She thinks Connor is hilarious, but all the hugging and touching can sometimes be a bit much for her. And she DEFINITELY doesn't like to hear "no" from anyone, let alone her big brother.
Earlier this week Quinn stayed home sick. I heard her wake from her nap, so I went into her room. Once she was changed and ready to go, she headed for Connor's room saying, "Caw, Caw, Caw..." I said, "No Connor. Connor is at school. He's not home." Immediately the little "opportunist" headed for his bed to pick up his baby (which is the one sacred thing he has that is off limits to her). She grabbed it and headed for the door saying, "My, my, my (meaning, mine, mine, mine)." These days Quinn feels like it is the Great American Land Grab and she's got to get while the getting is good!

I LOVE A PARADE!

Over the holidays Connor took a huge break from school. Much of that time was spent back in the Midwest visiting family, but even after we returned to Utah he continued to stay home for another 5 days. And, if you are wondering about how the return to school went...well, not too bad.
To my point (if there is one) there was a lot of time to play with new toys and even a bit of time left over to make up new uses for old toys. That is my favorite thing to see. I love to witness Connor using his imagination to make up new uses and schemes for old toys.
On New Years Day we cleared away the coffee table in the family room for some serious playing. With that space available Connor decided to create a parade route for his toys. Led by none other than GI Joe. Not sure I've ever seen a parade master with a machine gun, but that may only have been prevented by the election of a Democratic President for this term. Goddess Bless America.

Merry New Year!

With another wonderful holiday season in our rear view mirror, we count our blessings. We are so grateful to have such incredible families and wonderful friends. Please don't feel like we don't care, because we don't send beautiful cards. We love you just the same, I promise.
It shocks me to look at the calendar and see 2009 staring me down. Once again I have made resolutions and this year I may even have a shot at keeping at least one of them (don't laugh Preston, I'm serious about watching more TV in the coming year.)
We had an amazing time back in the Midwest with family and friends. We were welcomed with such open arms, warm beds and delicious meals.
Now, we are back in Utah struggling to button our jeans (I swear they shrunk), desperate to find a place for all the new clothes and toys, and sadly missing waking up to warm coffee with our families. Thank you to all for such joyous and wonderful holidays.
Merry New Year! Take care, be well and please come visit.
