Even if he could, he wouldn't.

Last night as we were winding down for the night, hanging out and COMPLETELY out of the blue Connor commented with a smile, "Even if I could I wouldn't trade Quinn." And some days we all feel like that.

Too quiet means trouble...rookie mistake

I knew Quinn was being too quiet, too good upstairs playing by herself. So, I don't know why I was even surprised when she came out of Connor's room and announced, "I have Connor's underwear."

Oh my dear, you don't just have his underwear - you're wearing it, inside out. This picture will resurface around the time of your wedding rehearsal dinner. Mark my words.

I keep reading about resolutions, what we should resolve to do from the experts and then something similar coming out of everyone's mouth. Don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of things I should resolve to do. Those things I'll keep to myself and try like hell to really do. (Repeat under breath, patience is a virtue.)

But, for all of you I hope you resolve to have more fun, laugh as often and loud as possible, and enjoy many great meals and even better bottles of wine with those you love. My mother-in-law always says, "I like having your feet under my table." Why don't you also resolve to come to Denver and spend some time with your feet under my table. I promise it'll be fun, we'll laugh a lot and I'll cook up a warm meal served with an even better bottle of wine. Please, come visit.

Happy Holidays to the four of you that read this (last year it was 3, but I figure I picked up a reader at one point in the last 365 days). I hope you are happy, healthy and maybe a little buzzed (from wine or merriment, or both). Our life is good, we are watching a storm rage outside and a bit nervous about our trip up to Nebraska tomorrow, but life is good.
We are happy, healthy and a little buzzed. Santa is slated to arrive tonight and bring some really cool toys - it's rumored that someone is getting a batcave and a little certain Miss is getting a dollhouse. Still plenty of time for them to get on the naughty list, but I'm sure they'll be angels for the next 7 hours.
Enjoy your Christmas where ever it may be and however you are spending it. Be happy and be kind to each other - that's really what matters most.

Not one, but two damn tannenbaum!

It is true that this year we put up our first tree in 11 years of marriage (insert gasp and disapproving glance here). Honestly we've typically barely decorated because we are so fortunate to go back to the Midwest and stay with our families for an extended period of time. Don't worry - there are decorated trees there and much, much merry.
But, this year Connor was not going to let us go without a tree and quite frankly it was time. We are so enjoying how festive it looks. We also put up a tree in Connor's room - not quite the 7 footer he was hoping for, but damn joyous just the same.
Enjoy some pictures of our tannenbaum - oh and stop judging! Oh and in trying to "keep it real" don't you love the unmade bed, dirty shirt Quinn is wearing and bed head that Connor is sporting in the middle of the day. Precious moments.

Connor's not afraid to rock it like Elton John - minus the piano, but add the kazoo. Oh, and thank you so much to Kaitee's mother for putting kazoos in the goody bags. Really, really appreciate it. Really.

Just a salad...

So, I was looking through recipes for a new salad recipe. You know, trying to eat light after all that turkey and sides full of butter. I came across one I'm sure the kids would gobble up - marshmallows optional.


APPLE SNICKERS® SALAD

6-8 apples (unpeeled)
2 SNICKERS® bars
1 1/2 to 2 c. Cool Whip
Marshmallows (optional)

Cut apples in small pieces. Dice SNICKERS® and add them and Cool Whip. Let chill at least 1 hour.
