Happy Birthday Connor!

Four years ago you leapt into our life. At that time I had no idea the joy that you would bring us or how my heart would grow to fill all of the love that I feel for you. You are incredible, smart, funny, loving, and amazing all wrapped into one package.
We love you to pieces and are so excited to be on this journey of life with you my son.
Happy Birthday.

Swimming with His Buddies

Connor's school hosted a swimming party as this month's weekend outing. Connor was thrilled in that we all went (Quinn included) and his favorite buddies were there.
Was I in a swimsuit? NO! Was everyone relieved? YES
And, in case you haven't been paying attention, the beard is gone. I repeat (with excitement and a smile) the beard is gone.

Miss Smiles

Last night at dinner I asked Quinn if she had been naughty at school. This pictures shows her reply. Connor continued to eat his spaghetti, but added, "Yeah, she was naughty." Spoken like a true expert in the matter.

Conversations with a kiddo

On Sunday, Connor and I had a date. We rode Trax down to the Disney on Parade Live! event. (I'm actually not going to go into detail about the event, other than to say that there won't be Christmas this year due to the $10 cotton candy, etc. I did learn a lesson though, particularly after the first skit ended 10 minutes after the opening scene and he said, "Is it over? Can I get a toy now?")
He and I were giddy at the opportunity to hang just the two of us. On the way to the train station he said, "Mama, look at those birds. I wish we were birds and could fly. I wish I could fly with you Mama." I almost cried until 5 minutes later he said, "Mama, at school I learned about bears. I learned that they hibernate in the winter. But, I don't want to talk about it."
It's crazy how their brains work. Sometimes I can almost see the smoke as the wheels are turning. He's thinking so hard about something, but will only let me see a glimpse of what he's thinking when he bursts out with a "Pickles are really cucumbers." or "Dirty feet smell like cheese."
I tried to imagine how he went from the birds comment to the bears. In my mind it worked something like this, "Hmmm. Flying would be cool. What if I was a bird? Bird starts with a B. Bear also starts with a B. And, speaking of bears. Hey Mama..."
Time spent with Connor is certainly magical. Thanks for our date dude.

She's major

The Fabulous Miss Quinn had her 4 month check up on Monday. She is following directly in Connor's footsteps. Weighing in at 17 pounds 6 ounces (yep, that's a gain of 10 pounds in 4 months) she is in the 99% for weight and 95% for height.
Good news is that she is healthy and happy, at least as long as we keep her on Prevacid and soy formula.

Unnecessary Facial Hair

Here are my 3 favorite people in the entire world. I feel so blessed that at the end of each day I get to tuck them into bed. Our evenings are sort of indescribable at this point. They are spent rushing to get dinner on the table, dunking the kids in the bathtub (actual soak time varies based on the dinner served - spaghetti night can mean an extended soak), snuggling with Miss Quinn, reading a variety of Spiderman books and then shutting out the light in hopes that they'll stay in their beds contentedly until 7:00 am when we will wake up and start all over again.
The other night we had friends over so we got to bed late. Upon crawling into bed Preston said, "Is it sad that I am already looking forward to that morning cup of coffee?" I said, "Not at all. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow night's sleep." But, we got a gift from the Goddesses that night and the kids slept until almost 8:00 am. Bless you beautiful children!
You'll notice in the photo that Preston is a bit furry. He has decided to grow a beard this winter so that he can check that off "the list". In my opinion he is much too handsome for all of this fur on his face. But, who I am to stand in the way of something getting checked off of the list.
