First Day of School

New shoes? Check. New haircut? You can set your watch to it. Sturdy new backpack? It's more than ready for the challenge of rocks, snacks, action figures, the occasional spitball, and maybe even some homework.

Yesterday was Connor's first day of Kindergarten. After school, we celebrated a successful first day with a fast food dinner (Connor's choice) and were regaled with stories of the seven computers in his classroom, the playground, and his new classmates. We are so proud of Connor, but we can't believe how fast he is growing up on us.

Connor is an impressive young man with a sophisticated vocabulary and a depth of understanding that startles me sometimes . . . and I'm not saying that because I'm his grandmother. He is pure joy.
